Click + Add Milestone to create new milestone dates. The panel displays upcoming milestones with their due dates.
Status Notifications and Readiness Indicators
When you first upload solicitation documents to a new opportunity, GovEagle processes and extracts information from those documents. You'll see status notifications that inform you about the opportunity's readiness:

Ready Banner
The green success banner with the message "Your opportunity is ready! 🎉 GovEagle has extracted everything you need — time to kick off your outline and start planning your proposal" indicates that document processing is complete and you can begin working with the AI assistant.
Working with Opportunity Stages
Opportunities move through distinct stages that reflect the proposal development lifecycle:
Capture: Initial opportunity evaluation and qualification phase
Drafting: Active proposal writing and content development
Review: Internal review cycles and color team assessments
Finalization: Final edits, production, and submission preparation
Won: Successfully awarded contracts
Update the stage as your proposal effort progresses to keep your pipeline accurate and give stakeholders visibility into where each opportunity stands. You can also customize these stages to fit your process, see Customizing Workflows.
Best Practices
Keep Opportunities Up to Date
Regularly update the stage, milestones, and tasks to reflect current status. This ensures your dashboard provides an accurate view of your pipeline and helps identify opportunities that need attention.
Assign Clear Ownership
Designate a manager for each opportunity who owns overall coordination and delivery. This person serves as the primary point of contact and ensures the proposal stays on track.
Use Milestones to Drive Accountability
Break down the proposal timeline into meaningful milestones beyond just the submission date. This creates natural checkpoints for progress reviews and helps prevent last-minute scrambles.
Leverage the AI Assistant
Use the Chat tab to work with the GovEagle Assistant on drafting, editing, compliance checking, and other proposal tasks. The assistant has access to your solicitation documents and content library to provide relevant, tailored support.
Archive Completed Opportunities
Once opportunities are awarded (or lost), update their status appropriately. This keeps your active dashboard focused on current efforts while preserving historical records for lessons learned.
